“Networking for Neglected Diseases: Primary Immune Deficiencies (PIDs)"
Date: November 23rd, 2010 (Tue)
Co‐organizers: Mohamed Ridha Barbouche (IP Tunis) and Yu Lung Lau (HKU)
Contributors: Nadia Kechout (IP Algeria), Hamid Baraket (IP Morocco), Mohamed Ridha Barbouche (IP Tunis) and Yu Lung Lau (HKU)
Venue: L759, 7/F, Lab Block, William MW Mong Building, 21 Sassoon Road, Hong Kong Time: 1 PM – 3:30 PM
Aim: To improve interaction between scientists working on the study of the molecular basis of PIDs within the Pasteur Institutes Network. The specificities of these PIDs in the Maghreb area where consanguinity is high and offers a unique epidemiological situation as well as in China, where the number of cases identified is important and their molecular investigation significantly brought forward should facilitate the identification of common interests and the submission of collaborative research grants.
Program:
1-1:10 p.m. | Introduction to the session: background and objectives. M.R. Barbouche |
1:10-1:40 p.m. | State of the art in the Maghreb region: Epidemiology, immunological investigation and molecular studies of PIDs (N. Kechout, H. Baraket, M.R. Barbouche) |
1:40-2:10 p.m. | State of the art in HK‐China (Y.L. Lau) |
2:10-2:20 p.m. | Specificities of Maghrebian series: Impact of consanguinity on prevalence and molecular basis of PIDs (M.R. Barbouche) |
2:30-2:50 p.m. | Specificities of Chinese series: Epidemiology and management of PIDs cases (Y.L. Lau) |
2:50-3:30 p.m. | General Discussion: How to improve collaboration toward a better investigation of the molecular basis of PIDs in our respective regions? How to submit a collaborative research program to be funded by the Pasteur Institutes Network on the study of the molecular basis of PIDs? |
