The Institut Pasteur in Cambodia celebrates its 60th anniversary

On the 11th of March, 2013, the Institut Pasteur in Cambodia celebrated its 60th anniversary. The ceremony took place in presence of His Excellency Dr Mam BUNHENG, Cambodian Minister of Health, Mr Serge MOSTURA, Ambassador of France, and Pr Alice DAUTRY, Director General of the Institut Pasteur.

On this occasion, the first stone of the regional research plateform dedicated to the study on communicable infectious diseases and emerging pathogens has been landed. Thanks to mobilization and active support of French research institutions (Institut Pasteur, IMMI/INSERM, ANRS, AIRD/IRD, Fondation Mérieux, CIRAD), in close relationship with the Ministries of health, this new plateform will be launched to meet the challenges of infectious diseases in Cambodia and in the region. It will host international research teams and will also provide training for young scientists in partnership with the Universities.

An exhibition called “Laboratory of creation” based on ancient and modern photographs, and on work of art commemorates the 60 years of creation of the Institut Pasteur in Cambodia. A sculpture of Louis Pasteur made by artists from “Artisans d’Angkor” has been given to the Institut Pasteur.
