HKU-Pasteur Delegation Share Latest Influenza Findings at Options XIII Conference in Washington, DC

HKU-Pasteur researchers recently participated in the Options XIII Conference for the Control of Influenza, held in Washington, DC, from 30 August to 2 September 2026, following the Options XIII Mini-School on 29 August.

The delegation included Malik Peiris, Sook-San Wong, Vijay Dhanasekaran, and Sophie Valkenburg, together with students Iris Li, Isaac Cheuk Long Chow, Sarah Bai, and Taoyang Wang.

Organized by the International Society for Respiratory Viruses (ISRV), the conference brought together leading researchers, clinicians, and public health experts from around the world to discuss the latest developments in influenza prevention, surveillance, treatment, immunity, and vaccine development.

Our teams presented findings from several major research projects, including the CARES, PIVOT, EPIHK, and DRIVE studies. Presentations explored topics such as influenza infection, repeated vaccination, antibody responses, nasal mucosal immunity, and factors shaping protection against influenza viruses.

The conference provided valuable opportunities to share research findings, engage with international experts, and gain insights into emerging advances in influenza science and vaccine development. The discussions and collaborations fostered during the event will help inform ongoing research efforts and future partnerships at HKU-Pasteur.
