Applications are invited for appointment as Senior Research Assistants and Research Assistants I/II in Immunology and Infection (several posts) in the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine (Ref.: 501871), to work on exciting new projects and to evolve under the collaboration of the University of Hong Kong and Institut Pasteur.
Positions are to be filled as soon as possible for one to two year(s), with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
The selected candidates will work in a company incorporated by the University of Hong Kong that was established to foster and accelerate the University’s innovation endeavours.
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in Biomedical Sciences or related disciplines, and at least 3 years’ relevant research experience in one or more of these areas: Virology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry and Bioinformatics. They should have a good command of written and spoken English and strong communication skills, and be self-motivated, organized, detail-minded, hardworking, and able to conduct independent and collaborative research, and work well in an interdisciplinary team. Those with lower qualifications and/or less experience may be considered for appointment as Research Assistant I/II.
The appointees are expected to contribute to translational research projects in Immunology and Infection that will: (i) investigate the boundaries of functional immune responses to infectious agents for biomarker discoveries; (ii) develop broadly cross protective “universal” vaccine against influenza for pre-clinical studies and human clinical trials; (iii) establish a broad public health capacity to respond to vector-borne virus threats; and (iv) validate innovative, physiologically relevant, disease platforms to study in mechanistic terms of the pathogenesis of acute lung injury. Working off-campus, outside office hours and on weekends may be required.
