On Ethics in research for international development in the countries of Greater Mekong regions
The international symposium entitled “Ethics in research for international development: environment, societies and health in the countries of Greater Mekong regions” will take place on October 27-28, 2015 at the University of Health Sciences-Vientiane-Lao PDR. The symposium is organized by the Institute for Research in development (IRD) and the University Of Health Sciences Of Vientiane (UHS/Laos).
The aim is to exchange information and reflection on ethics questions which are faced researchers practising in research institutes located in the Mekong basin countries (Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia).
The objectives of the symposium are:
- to allow an exchange of experiences on ethical issues related to research in environment, societies and public health.
- to identify and discuss the fundamental principles of ethics, the ethical issues most commonly faced by researchers, and the adequacy and limitations of answers provided by available guidelines.
- to contribute to a better understanding of the principles and ethical issues for research for development among Lao academic people and researchers and thus support the expansion of Lao scientific research.

Notification of acceptance: July 1, 2015
Deadline for registration: September 30, 2015
Conference takes place: October, 27-28 2015
