Welcome to Cyrus Liu at HKU-Pasteur Research Pole

We are pleased to welcome Cyrus Liu to the HKU-Pasteur Research Pole. Having been part of The University of Hong Kong throughout his academic journey, Cyrus brings with him a strong and diverse background in biomedical sciences and research support to the administrative team.

Cyrus completed his Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences at HKU before pursuing an MPhil in the Department of Microbiology, where he focused on respiratory viruses and vaccinology. He then went on to hold both research and technical positions within the Faculty, gaining valuable exposure to a broad range of fields including cancer biology, immunology, and genomic science. This multidisciplinary experience now informs his approach to supporting research environments and scientific teams.

Motivated by a desire to work in an international and collaborative setting, Cyrus was drawn to HKU-Pasteur Research Pole for its dynamic ecosystem and global outlook. He highlights the opportunity to engage with colleagues from diverse backgrounds as a key factor in his decision, emphasizing the importance of cultural exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration in shaping innovative research.

In his current role, Cyrus is responsible for overseeing laboratory operations at HKU-PRP. He ensures that the needs of researchers and principal investigators are met, while maintaining high standards of lab safety and compliance. His role is central to the smooth functioning of the research environment, contributing to both operational efficiency and a strong culture of safety within the lab.

Looking ahead, Cyrus aspires to take on a pivotal role within HKU-PRP and actively contribute to its long-term development. In the meantime, he is keen to make the most of his experience, embracing both the professional and personal opportunities that come with being part of such a vibrant research community.
