On Monday afternoon, June 8, we had the pleasure of hosting Prof. Yuxing Han and her team from Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School to discuss projects related to the use of A.I.

Prof. Benoît Guénard (HKU) opened the round table with a key question: “Can AI accelerate biodiversity and biosecurity research?”
Wuji Zhang, You Che, and Sook San Wong from HKU-PRP, then described their research interests and potential avenues for collaboration with Prof. Han.
Adrien Touboul (freelance) presented “Mediscan,” a lung- and liver-screening tool developed with HKU teams, and proposed possible collaborative efforts.
Finally, Prof. Han and her team delivered a fascinating talk, “What AI Needs Beyond
Accuracy: Efficiency, Privacy, and Interpretability,” which provoked lively discussion among the audience and insightful comments from Julian Stargardt.
Cyrus Liu and Anne Li gave a brief tour of our laboratory, and a final debrief with the co-director, Eric Deharo, highlighted concrete areas for near-term collaboration.
