On 12 March 2026, the HKU–Pasteur Research Pole had the pleasure of welcoming a group of outstanding young students for a visit organised with the Hong Kong Laureate Forum (HKLF), as part of the “Exploring New Horizons 2026” programme.

The visit began with a welcome and introduction by Dr Wuji Zhang, who presented the mission, research focus, and collaborative environment of HKU–Pasteur Research Pole. This was followed by an engaging Q&A session, during which students had the opportunity to exchange directly with researchers and gain deeper insights into ongoing scientific work.

The group then took part in an immersive lab visit and live demonstrations. Divided into small groups, the students rotated across three demonstration stations, discovering cutting-edge research approaches and technologies developed within the laboratory. These interactions offered a behind-the-scenes perspective on how fundamental research translates into real-world impact, particularly in the field of infectious diseases and global health.

We were truly proud to open the doors of our laboratories and share a part of our daily scientific work.

It was a pleasure to engage with curious and talented young minds. We hope that this visit has sparked new ideas, broadened perspectives, and perhaps even inspired future vocations in science.
